Responsible for this site

This is the personal portfolio of David Belschak, based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It is a private, non-commercial site: nothing is sold, and there is no advertising.

Questions, corrections, or takedown requests go to d.k.belschak@gmail.com.

Privacy

The short version: this site does about as little with your data as a website can. It is fully static. There are no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party embeds. Fonts and scripts are served from this server, not from a content delivery network, so loading a page sends no request to Google, to a CDN, or to any other third party.

The one thing that is processed is the web server log. The site runs on a virtual server hosted by Hetzner in Germany, and its web server writes a standard access log for every request: your IP address, the time, the page you asked for, and your browser's user agent. This is technically necessary to run the server and to defend it against abuse, and it is the legal basis of a legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. These logs are rotated daily and automatically deleted after 14 days.

The contact link is a plain mailto: address that opens your own mail program; sending a message is your choice, and the message then lives in ordinary email. The links to GitHub and LinkedIn point to third-party sites that have their own privacy policies; this site does not track whether you follow them.

Under the GDPR you can ask what data is held about you and request its correction or deletion, and you can object to the logging described above under Article 21. For a static site like this one that means the server logs; use the email address at the top. If you believe your data is being handled unlawfully here, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For this site that is the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), but you can equally contact the authority of the EU country you live in.
